Air Traffic Controller Suspended for Sleeping on the Job

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Air...

An air traffic controller was suspended today after 2 passenger jets were forced to land without clearance at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport early Wednesday morning.  The F.A.A. is currently investigating the situation as many are outraged at the lack of responsibility shown by operator of the control tower as he was found to be sleeping. Some are criticizing the airport for having only one air traffic controller on duty in such a critical airspace.

Many are wondering how it can be possible that only one air traffic controller can be responsible for the lives of so many people, and especially in an area which is known to be highly secure.  Future precautions will likely be taken by having more controllers man the station so events like this will no longer occur.
